Morning Leamington! We've got a planning application coming up for a rather significant Sycamore tree on a property boundary. It sounds like it's been a bit of a challenge for the homeowner, especially with access for things like refuse trucks. We'll be keeping an eye on how this one develops!
I wish to apply to remove a very large Sycamore tree currently positioned within the boundary of my property, though on the edge of my property & communal land. I have lived in the property for over 20 years and have been diligent in maintaining the tree. This has been ongoing approximately every 5 years requiring specialist tree surgeon and equipment. I have followed the guidance from WDC and applied every time to do the necessary work , including crown lift and reduction. The last time this was done it required a cherry picker on site to do the work due to the size of the tree and therefore cost a considerable amount of money. I have sought advice from a tree surgeon and he is telling me that it will require work every 3 years due to its size. It is on the corner of my plot and on the corner of the main access driveway. In recent years this has caused some problems with access for large vehicles, in particular refuse trucks. The tree causes me a great deal of concern and constant issues in the garden. I am now retired & am struggling to keep on top of the constant challenges a Sycamore brings to a small garden. It is extremely close to my house and other trees not on my property, on land owned by a local farmer or communal land. The close proximity to my house is a concern to me and if the tree is not contained it touches the walls when the leaves are growing. I have to continually jet was my patio and house walls to protect them from the Sycamore sap. The tree dominates the small garden an roots cause problems with other shrubs and plants. There are many trees within the Hall area and surrounding areas which are all smaller than my tree. I work hard to maintain my garden and property and the surrounding natural beauty of the area. I do not intend to put down any hard landscaping in my garden, but to add in further shrub planting maintaining a good area for drainage and wildlife. I have made contact at this time, however I would not want to start any works before October/November 2026 at the earliest. I am happy to follow your schedule. Th tree is causing me constant ongoing concern, particularly with all the recent storms within the area. The branches are large and could cause serious damage to myself, my property and my neighbours, as well as vehicles using the driveway. The tree has got too large for the site and location. I am happy to supply a plan and photographs, or meet with you at my property.
